We’re helping build a new EMI from the ground up — and we’re looking for a CEO to lead it. The company is in the process of obtaining a license from the Bank of Spain, with full support from an experienced licensing team. Your mission? Take charge as the named EMD individual and become the face of a next-generation financial institution serving regulated merchants.
You’ll start by reviewing the license application prepared for you and participate in an interview with the Bank of Spain. Once operational, you’ll grow and manage the business — from team building and bank onboarding to business development and compliance oversight.
This role is ideal for someone already in the Spanish fintech ecosystem who knows what it takes to run a financial company and is well connected in the high-risk merchant space.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the EMD individual and represent the company in front of the Bank of Spain
- Build, lead, and scale the core team
- Hire key talent across compliance, operations, and product
- Open bank accounts and negotiate with acquirers and financial partners
- Lead business development with high-risk merchants
- Ensure regulatory and operational compliance of the institution
What You Bring
- 4+ years in a CEO or senior executive role in financial services
- 1+ year of experience within a licensed Spanish financial or credit institution
- Deep knowledge of payment acquiring, especially for high-risk verticals (gambling, betting)
- Strong understanding of EMI regulation and stakeholder management
- Resident of Spain with the ability to undergo regulatory vetting and interview
- Existing industry connections ready for introduction are a strong plus
