Group Chief Financial Officer

Founded more than 130 years ago, our client has evolved from a small corset factory into a global lingerie enterprise. Now active in over 50 countries with yearly sales exceeding 20 million euros, they are renowned for their high-quality women’s lingerie. Their collections, designed at their centre in Mannheim, range from modern everyday essentials to sensual lace and embroidered pieces and functional shapewear.

Our client, a prominent intimate apparel and textile industry player, encompasses two key business sub-groups. Their combined operations, with consolidated revenue exceeding 58 million euros, span Europe and beyond, including markets in the USA, Canada, and Morocco. They pride themselves on their rich heritage, innovative designs, and strong brand presence.

Role Overview:
Our client seeks a strategic Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive team. The Group CFO will play a pivotal role in driving the financial strategy of the company, ensuring sustainable growth and financial health. This role demands a leader with a deep understanding of international finance, exceptional strategic thinking, and a track record of success in the apparel or manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the Group.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the Group’s business objectives and growth plans.
  • Manage the financial risks, including foreign exchange and interest rate exposures, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to the executive team and the Board, aiding in decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Lead and mentor the finance teams across different locations, fostering a culture of high performance and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with operations and distribution teams to ensure financial alignment and support business initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 3 years in a senior role equivalent to Group Financial Controller or higher within a manufacturing company.
  • Demonstrated success in the apparel, textile, or manufacturing sectors is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of international finance practices, including international taxation and cross-border transactions.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems.
    Previous experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in German is a significant plus.
  • Proven experience working in an international setting, demonstrating cultural awareness and the ability to manage financial operations across multiple countries.
